About Matteo Perin
The setting is Verona. A city nestled in northern Italy’s Veneto region famous for being the setting of Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet.” It’s 6 o’clock, the golden hour with the sun descending behind the city’s 1st-century Roman amphitheater as the languorous summer day comes to rest. Bathed in the dusky, gilded light, spritz-drinking couples and elderly locals meander into the squares on a pre-dinner passeggiata. And it is here, on the east end of Piazza dell Erbe – the very place where town forums were held in the time of the Roman Empire – amid the tolling of bells and the chinking of wine-drenched glasses, where we meet Italian designer Matteo Perin, eccentric waves of silver locks atop his tilted head, hands adorned with giant, skulled rings, and a pin-striped suit impeccably fitted over his otherwise unembellished frame.
Matteo Perin is an Italian designer who creates bespoke, luxury items for an array of international celebrities, business leaders, and the like. Each item, whether formal wardrobe, leisure wear, or accessory, is entirely customized for the specific client alone – conceptualized from initial rough sketch to completed design. Perin’s designs are not for the masses; rather, they are for the fashion elite whose desire for truly one-of-a-kind style and private, individualized service is of paramount importance. And where cost is far from the object.
Perin was born and raised in a small town outside of Verona, Italy. He discovered his love of design at a very young age, inspired by his immaculately styled grandmother and artist mother. In school, art was his favorite subject. And much of childhood was spent absorbing the wealth of wisdom his nineteenth-century-born great grandfather instilled in him.
Design really began taking shape when a close family friend took Perin under his wing and taught him about pattern making and suit construction. This was a formative time of his life that really set into motion what would become his lifelong passion. Fueled by his yearning to pursue the world of international fashion, Perin left school at the age of 14.
Travel soon become an obsession as he sought out the cultural differences and influences of the world, nuances that would later be imbued into each and every one of his works. It was this globetrotting lifestyle that served as the basis of what would become his unique business model: traveling to whatever location called for without regard to distance, spending as much time as needed to deeply delve into his clientele’s world, working one-on-one and on every detail to ensure complete and utter satisfaction, and producing truly tailor-made works that are deliberately unavailable to the general public.
Perin prides himself on the intimate relationships he forms with each client. This is partially done through discussion, but also by observation and experience. Perin considers his clients’ desires and lifestyle in the context of international fashion when creating his works, while also calling on his aesthetic sensibilities and eye for detail.
Over the years, Perin’s luxury brand has expanded beyond wardrobe and personal accessories to luxury accoutrements for automobiles, yachts and private jets – to name a few. He shares with his clientele a love of rich, Italian culture and style, an appreciation for a unique, bespoke style, and the elegance that is imbued into everything touched by Perin. And the fact that whatever it may be, they can rest assured that it does not exist within any luxury brand on the planet.
